What's best way to install all patches?

Post by HellSnake »

Hi, giants isn't a really active game anymore but anyway.
im making s simple (big)patch that installs all patches :)
but im looking for the best order to install....
and i heard something about the Geforce 3 Patch & GRM not working together well so i want to know more about that...

'order i use'

1.4 patch
Geforce 3 patch
Red blood patch
Mappack patch
level 6 patch
Multiplayerfix patch
GRM patch
Giantshook 1.0 patch (Why can't we download the 1.3 beta?)
Lost worlds unlocker patch
Menu Overlay patch(modified/improved by me)
and i also made a special giants.exe that starts giants with -snd3d -agptex
(eal files r Included in the file :P)
is that a good idea to include with patch?

anyway, if any1 knows another patch/better way to install, tell me :>

The "multiplayer fix" patch has not done anything since version 1.0 of Giants, and I'm not sure it did anything even then. There is no need to install it.

You do not need the lost worlds patch either -- the 1.4 patch unlocks those maps by itself.

Sorry, I thought you were talking about the old 1.3 beta patches for Giants.

That version of GiantsHook isn't publicly available. The special server-only build of it is running on the GiantsWD.org dedicated server (which I host). I'm on Gamespy all day because I leave it running on the computer that's hosting the dedicated, which is on 24/7. I'm not usually paying much attention to it, however.

I don't think the debug mode code has been present in the game since version 1.1.

As for GH 1.3, I honestly don't remember everything -- it's been almost a year since I've touched it. There were numerous code improvements, a few new options in the performance section of Giants.ini, fixes for a couple of bugs (including the invulnerable companion Meccs in single player), and I'd also added an option to play music in multiplayer games.

I never really finished work on it, though. Releasing it would most likely have broken compatibility with servers running older versions of GiantsHook (due to the cheat protection), and there were fewer and fewer people playing as it was.

No, I'm talking about playing the single player music in multiplayer games.

GiantsHook was made with a combination of asm and C++.
