Reporting Bugs

Post by Tasiin » Sun Jun 07, 2009 8:05 pm

If you encounter a bug in the patch 1.5 open beta, use this thread to report it rather than starting a new one. Follow these basic guidelines for submitting bug reports to give us a useful report:

1) Include steps to reproduce the problem in your report if you know how. If we don't know how to cause the problem, it's not likely to be fixed.

2) Important: If the game crashed, send us the "errorlog.txt" file in your Giants folder. You can either upload it somewhere and link to it here or email it to me (click the email button below my post to do so).

3) If no one else seems to be having any of the problems you are, try a clean re-installation of the game. To do this, uninstall the game from Add/Remove programs, delete the Giants folder (in C:\Program Files\Giants by default), then reinstall.

Game crash to the desktop: when you join and play an online game, and then you get the message "you lost your conection from the server", you go to the singleplayer missions (tested only kabuto missions). When you finish the first mission of that chapter, a few seconds later after loaded the next mission the game freeze's and crashes to the desktop. This happened to me more than twice. Sometimes the game can freeze while you are playing the first mission, and i think that not only getting that message and then going to the SP missions cause this, if you left the game and do the same it happens too.

As stated above, send your errorlog.txt file to Tasiin for examination.

well, my giants.exe didn't crash, but there is a bug somepeople are suffering from,

it happens on MP servers with some people,

u walk arround and suddenly u get attacked by nothing and the game says u are tired of life.

I also sometimes get killed when playing MP. most of the times it happens when i'm playing as Reaper.
and when i play as kabuto, the vimps still don't react to me when i'm eating them. and u also can eat trees...

there also something i would like to mention.
I find it that the ammo for machine gun is way to low. before u know, u're out of bullits.

the rest is just perfect. u guys are great

Yes, the machinegun ammo is too low. And i have so lag that with kabuto one time i needed to eat a guy 3 times before it died . Also in Mecc vs. Mecc matches they always kill me with 2 or 3 proximity missiles, and me i need at least 5 or 6. And finally this was "very funny" because i shoot two mortar grenades in front of an enemy Mecc and didn't died and later he kills me with the grenade launcher.

It's called shielding.

He wasn't shielding because he reapeared after dead, when you only start with the pistol and the grenade launcher. And my shield doesn't do anything, shielding myself i'm being killed by 2 or 3 directed proximity missiles when i need at least 10 missiles to kill someone shielding.

Having a shield does nothing at all - you need to know how to use it properly in order to reap any benefit from it. A good shielder can take dozens of attacks without dying.

I'm pretty sure it takes 4 prox missiles to kill a jetter, if they use the syringe after being hit twice. If you use it after being hit once, I think it only takes 3? Your opponent may also be blocking prox missiles with mines as well, which confuses a lot of new players into thinking they've hit someone when they haven't.

but again, this is a bug thread, almost everything in your posts has been either skill or lag related.

2nd crash errorlog is here: happened shortly after respawning.

3rd crash errorlog is here: happened shortly after being killed by follow spell which did not unbind for 15 seconds.
