Error when installing GSA

Post by Casqad »

I bought myself a new PC (Vista) but now I'm having trouble installing GameSpy Arcade.

This is the error message it gives me:

The file
"C\Users\Dennis\AppData\Local\Temp\comver.dll"
could not be opened. Please check that your disk is not full and that you have acces to the destination directory.

I have manually found the file, my disk is not full and my PC is only a week old.

Have you tried contacting GameSpy? Beyond that, I'm not sure I really have any suggestions. I've never seen that problem myself.

Just out of curiosity though, can you move or delete that file? If you can't, that'd explain the error message.

I found a simple solution for the problem I had.

Booted in Safe Mode and installed from there.

The file apparently does get unpacked, but Vista blocks the file so it is stopped from being used.

Now it's installed I can't enter the Giants room.
It gives me a dead page.

It also shows me the license agreement and shows me the welcome screen everytime I start it up.

I do not know about Vista, but under XP I have to right-click the shortcut and select 'run as...', then use the login and password of the windows account that I first used to install the game. Perhaps a similar problem occurs in Vista?
