Your problem is probably due to the fact that you don't even have a graphics card. I would sooner play solitaire before playing giants with onboard video. Also, another stick of RAM wouldn't hurt.

1) You have onboard video. If you didn't have that, you wouldn't even be able to hook up any form of computer display (ie: monitor).
2) I'm pretty sure everything available in retail today can run giants.
3) That depends on your motherboard. You should learn more about your motherboard to find out which RAM module it supports before purchasing RAM. Infact, take the time to learn more about your whole system before purchasing anything for it.

He's probably referring to the GRM patch, I think. There aren't that many patches to get lost into anyway.

1024 by 768 True couler (60HZ)
I recommend you to change refresh rate (just in case). It won't help with Giants, but will make your eyes hurt less. Change it to 'Optimal' or 85 Hz.
60 Hz means 60 'blinks' per second, which is too slow for human eye nerve :)

Not really an issue if he has an LCD, which I'd most certainly hope he has if his refresh is set at 60.

Max refresh rate of a typical LCD is 75 Hz, I know, because I have one and 75 Hz is fairly enough for human eyes.

CRT's have it usualy 85 HZ @ 1024x768x32bpp.

I know, it's not an issue of the type of used monitor.

Let the refresh rate to 60 Hz if you have an LCD monitor ! First because it's totally useless to increase it given the fact there are no "blinks" unlike CRT technology. Moreover, it can damage the screen from what I heard.
