To clarify a few things: * Using fan-made patches is generally not permitted. There are exceptions but anything that alters the game mechanics beyond what's possible in official versions certainly won't be accepted. * Besides that, you can use any official version you like, including the unpatched r...

Speedrunners wanted
Over there at SpeedDemosArchive there's a cash bounty for the first person to do a good speedrun of Giants. If you're interested beware that the quality requirements are rather high since the aim is to get a speed run *accepted*. You need to achieve good gameplay quality (better than the average exp...

i haven't followed this thread, but including gmm functionality into the 1.5 release could be useful. i originally wrote gmm to emulate the behavior of unreal tourney - when ya joined a mod'd game it would dl the required files. i might still have the source kicking around, also gave it to a coupla...

These numbers are there due to a mistake in interpreting Giants binary files when I made GiantsEdit years ago... here's what I remember: 6 = number of how many vimpheard markers u have minus one (is identical to the the highest TeamID of its vimp markers) 23 = telling which vimpheard team it is, PMS...

The all seeing eye is an alternative server browser that supports Giants as well (but AFAIK sees fewer games than GSA).

It should work with the GF8 version as it records the game's state *before* it is passed to the renderer. Demos can (and must) be played back with the same tool. There's a large number of bugs left but the basic functions are working. I'll try to make a version that's suitable for public release as ...

I've made a tool that's way better for recording Giants demos than Fraps is. It dumps Giants' object storage to disk (and, in order to save space, for following frames just the difference to the preceding frame). For a typical single player mission running at 40 fps this gives 0.25 to 0.4 MB per sec...

What about these rules? Feel free to comment or correct them :-) * version 1.4 * no cheats or other manipulations (at least those that affect gameplay in any way) * no taking advantage from restarting a mission (with base build missions the base is not lost when just restarting the mission) But what...
